The Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) is a world-class gemmological laboratory, education and research centre, specializing in the testing and study of natural pearls.
The Institute has committed its support to preserving the Kingdom of Bahrain’s rich pearling history as a significant trade and commerce hub, and advancing the country’s pearling heritage.

DANAT’s expert team of gemmologists offers pearl, gemstone and diamond authentication and verification services to an expansive portfolio of global customers, while providing local and international students, industry professionals and hobbyists, with a range of tailored courses and internationally-recognised gemmological qualifications.

“I graduated from GIA, the Gemological Institute of America’s USA campus as a gemmologist.
I’ve worked at the GIA Dubai branch for ten years as an instructor. In addition, I taught gemmology classes in the Middle East and East Africa.
I’ve worked for a number of well-known companies, including De Beers, IDL and Mouawad. I’m currently employed as a senior instructor at DANAT, the Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones where I teach Pearl, diamond and colored stone courses.
A world-class gemmological laboratory, education and research centre, DANAT specializes in the testing and study of natural pearls as a reflection of Bahrain’s ancient pearling history and desire to protect and advance Bahrain’s pearling heritage.

In the Middle East, DANAT is the only accredited Gem-A teaching center. A UK-based charity organization, originating in 1908, the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) is the most established Gemmological Association in the world with diplomas that are seen as the highest status international Gemmological qualification. I have a Gemmology Diploma from Gem-a, which qualified me to be a Gem-a tutor.
In Bahrain and the Middle East, I teach Gem-a gemmology Foundation and Diploma courses, and lead Gem-a gemmology and diamond workshops.”
